Karl Tremblay, the lead singer of popular Quebec band Les Cowboys Fringants, has died of prostate cancer at the age of 47.
The band announced Tremblay's death on Facebook on Wednesday.
Tremblay was born in Montreal in 1976 and founded Les Cowboys Fringants in 1994. The band has released 10 albums and won numerous awards, including the Juno Award for Francophone Album of the Year in 2004.
Tremblay was also a poet and video game developer.
His death is a loss to the Quebec music community and his fans around the world.
