Anthony Fauci to Speak at Michigan State University's Commencement

Renowned Infectious Disease Expert to Address Graduates

Fauci has been a leading voice in the fight against COVID-19

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation's top infectious disease expert and the face of the U.S. response to the COVID-19 pandemic, will be among the guest speakers at Michigan State University's spring graduation.

Fauci, who has served as the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984, is scheduled to headline a list of high-profile commencement speakers that also includes former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, author and activist Gloria Steinem, and actor and philanthropist John Krasinski.

In a statement, Michigan State University President Samuel Stanley Jr. said he was "honored and grateful" that Fauci would be speaking at the university's commencement ceremony.

"Dr. Fauci is a true American hero who has dedicated his life to protecting the public health," Stanley said. "His expertise and leadership have been invaluable in our fight against COVID-19, and we are thrilled to welcome him to Michigan State University to share his insights with our graduates."

Fauci is expected to speak about the importance of education and public service, as well as the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for the nation.
